Teaching Times Tables – Preparing to Test Feb 2020

Due to popular demand the North West Learning Partnership would like to offer all schools the chance to attend the following training session:

Teaching Times Tables – Preparing to Test

The session will focus on:

  • How to use models and images to create connections between multiplication and division leading to fractions.
  • How to teach tables rather than just reciting them.
  • To develop strategies to support remembering, retaining and using times tables facts rather than ‘counting up’

Delegates will be given materials to support practice in class. All materials used at the training will be sent to delegates.

Lower KS2 – Tuesday 11th February 2020: 9.00-12 noon (Y3 and 4 teachers)
Upper KS2 Tuesday 11th February 2020: 1.00-3.30pm  (Y5 and 6 teachers)

Venue: Nutgrove Primary School Govett Road, St Helens, WA9 5NH
Cost: £70 per delegate for 1/2 days training (alliance members will receive 25% off all training sessions)

Trainer:
Tara Loughran has extensive experience in schools for leading improvement and change in mathematics. Tara worked as the Senior Adviser for Primary Mathematics in the North of England for the National Strategies and prior to this as a Senior LA numeracy consultant and has supported the writing of national materials both in the UK and internationally. She has provided high quality training for the NWLP since becoming a teaching school in 2013; she has inspired lots of teachers and support staff to take her ideas back to the classroom with significant impact.  Her contributions to school improvement have been acknowledged.
