Core Maths Workgroup 2019-20

TO ALL TEACHERS OF CORE MATHS: You are invited to join our Liverpool-based Core Maths Workgroup 2019-20 on behalf of NW Maths Hub 3.

We would like to invite you to join our professional development ‘Work Group’ that will operate in 2019-20 in the Liverpool area. A ‘Work Group’ is a particular model of professional development where teachers work collaboratively to plan and implement their own PD requirements using the support and expertise of colleagues from NW Hub 3 and the AMSP. Work Groups are organised jointly by AMSP / Maths Hubs and are entirely free to attend.

The first meeting will take place on Wednesday 20th November 2019 at Calderstones School, L18 3HS [1.30 – 4.30pm]

The Work Group will consist of three afternoon meetings to develop and subsequently report on projects that have been implemented in the gaps between meetings. Participants in the 2018-19 Work Groups have commented very favourably on this style of professional development – we believe it is an innovative, efficient and enjoyable means of collaborative working.

Please encourage all colleagues from your department who are involved in teaching Core Maths (or have the potential to be involved in the future, even if our school doesn’t currently offer Core Maths) to come along and find out more. Please note also that if you participated in a Work Group last year, we strongly encourage you to sign up again this year and develop new projects!

Refreshments will be able at the meetings.

We very much hope you and your colleagues will be able to attend. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Best wishes,

Sarah Boyle (Calderstones School, NW Hub 3 Post-16 Lead) sarah.boyle@calderstones.co.uk
